What printers can I use with Ship&co?
Ship&co works with standard printers that you're already using to print shipping labels. You don't need to purchase special equipment or change your existing printer setup.
Compatible Printer Types
Standard Office Printers (Recommended for most users)
- Laser or inkjet printers
- Supported for all carriers
- Supported paper sizes: A4, A5, or carrier-specific sizes
Thermal Label Printers (PDF or ZPL format - Optional)
- Shipping carriers supporting thermal labels in PDF format: Yamato B2, Sagawa Express, Japan Post (JP domestic), DHL, FedEx, UPS
- Some carriers also support ZPL format (ZPL-compatible carriers: DHL, FedEx, UPS, Colissimo)
- Using ZPL format requires technical setup (see the ZPL printing guide)
How Printing Works with Ship&co
Shipping labels are generated by each carrier's system (API), not by Ship&co. This means:
- No printer configuration changes required
- Works with your existing printing setup
- Standard PDF format for most carriers
Print Format Options
PDF Format (Standard - Recommended)
PDF printing works with any standard printer and requires no special setup.
How to configure:
- Go to your carrier settings in Ship&co
- Under "Print Settings", select "PDF"
- Choose your paper size (A4, A5, or carrier-specific size, depending on the carrier)
- Save your settings
ZPL Format (Advanced - Thermal Printers Only)
ZPL (Zebra Programming Language) is designed for thermal label printers and is available for Colissimo, DHL, FedEx, and UPS labels.
Important notes:
- Requires a thermal label printer
- Requires technical setup and configuration
- PDF format is recommended unless you have specific needs for thermal printing
- See our detailed ZPL setup guide: How to print ZPL format thermal labels with Ship&co
Do I Need to Change My Printer Settings?
No changes needed if:
- You're already printing labels from carrier websites (e.g. Yamato B2 Cloud, Sagawa e-Hiden, etc)
- You're using PDF format in Ship&co
- Your printer handles A4 or A5 paper
You may need to adjust settings if:
- Switching to a thermal label printer for the first time
- Using ZPL format
- Changing to a different label size
Troubleshooting
