⚠️ Damage compensation insurance option is available for international shipments with DHL, FedEx, UPS, ECMS, and Japan Post (EMS and Postal Parcels*).
*Please be aware that the Insurance may not be applied for some countries or some shipments depending on the carrier's terms.
Japan Post International services and ECMS do not support multi-piece shipment label creation to begin with. However, with FedEx, DHL, and UPS, damage compensation insurance is available even for multi-piece shipments but conditions vary.
In the "Orders" page, please click an order that you want to create a shipping label for, and input the value of the contents in the “Declared value coverage” field.
The displayed currency of the shipment insurance is the currency of the sales for the order. For example, if the order currency is USD, the insurance coverage will also be displayed in USD.
For DHL, detailed information on DHL transportation insurance, please see here (DHL Optional Services page).
The insurance will be reflected on the DHL label as below. (Please note that this "Waybill Doc" page is not generated automatically when Paperless Trade (PLT) is applied, since it is not a required document in case of PLT).
The insurance value is applied as a "Shipment Insurance" optional service and covers the full amount entered, in the order currency, it is not split per parcel.
For FedEx, The insured amount needs to be equal or lower to the total value of the shipment — if it exceeds the declared product value, the shipment will return an error. The insured amount is noted as "carriage value" on the shipping label. For multi-parcel shipments, the total insurance amount is distributed evenly across all packages (any remainder is applied to the first packages).
Note: insurance is not applied to document-only shipments, regardless of the value set.
For UPS:
The insured amount isn't displayed on the label. The value is sent to UPS as a "Declared Value" per package — for multi-parcel shipments, the total insurance amount is distributed evenly across all packages (any remainder of cents is applied to the first packages).
The currency used is your UPS account currency, which may differ from your order currency.
Please contact your UPS account manager for more details about shipment insurance.
For ECMS, Even if you create a shipping label with a declared value coverage, information related to the option (ESE Care) will not be printed on the ECMS shipping label. If you need to confirm whether it has been applied, please contact your ECMS sales representative or customer service directly.
