In Ship&co, the default Incoterms setting is DDU.
If needed, DDP options are available for certain carriers - DHL, FedEx, UPS, Yamato International, or Pegasus Global Express (for Pegasus, limited to PEN-DHL and PEN-UPS only).
Incoterms supported by Ship&co
- DDU: The default setting - no action required in the Ship&co app or API to select DDU. (For DHL, DDU is handled as DAP - Delivered At Place)
- DDP: If you are using the app, please check the option “Delivered Duty Paid” in the “Options” section of the order screen (see image below). If you are using the API, you can specify DDP by setting "duty_paid": true.
Carrier-Specific Information:
- Japan Post International: DDU only. DDP service not available at the moment.
- FedEx: If you select DDP, you'll see your FedEx account number next to "D/T:" on the label (D/T = duties/taxes).
- DHL: DDU shipments are processed as DAP (Delivered At Place). For DDP shipments, you'll see "DTP" (duties taxes paid) on the label.
- UPS: For DDP shipments, the label shows, at the bottom, "BILLING: F/D" where F/D stands for Free Domicile, meaning the shipper pays all shipping charges, duties, and taxes.
- Yamato Transport International TA-Q-BIN: When DDP is selected, the label (waybill) will display “Duty & Tax Payment All Prepaid”, indicating that DDP is correctly applied. Although the accompanying invoice will show “FOB JAPAN”, this is standard behavior for Yamato International TA-Q-BIN.
- Pegasus Global Express: DDP is only applicable for PEN-DHL and PEN-UPS services. When DDP is selected for these services, "DDP" will be displayed in the “Terms” field on the shipping label, and “SHIPPER” will appear next to “Destination duties/tax”. (If DDP is selected for services other than PEN-DHL and PEN-UPS, no error will occur, but the DDP setting will not be valid. In such cases, it is expected that Pegasus will follow up separately to confirm and correct the shipping terms.)
Important Considerations
Cost Warning
DDP shipments typically cost significantly more than DDU due to carrier handling fees and additional charges.
- B2C vs B2B: Third-party account billing for duties & taxes (such as consignee FedEx accounts for duty payments) is primarily designed for B2B transactions. Ship&co does not support third-party account numbers for duty/tax payments at the moment.
- Rate Display: Handling fees are currently not shown in Ship&co when calling rates - only shipping costs are displayed. Additional DDP fees will appear on your carrier invoice.
