Overview
Effective June 1, 2026, Japan Post has revised the customs declaration (CN22/23) form. As part of this revision, the "Merchandise" category under Contents Type has been split into the following two classifications:
- E-commerce goods – for online retail / e-commerce shipments
- Commercial goods (BtoB) – for business-to-business transactions
How Ship&co Handles This
In Ship&co, "Merchandise" remains a single option under "Shipment Type", as before. The system will automatically determine which of the two classifications applies, based on whether a value is entered in the Company Name field of the recipient's address:
- Company Name provided → Commercial goods (BtoB)
- Company Name not provided → E-commerce goods
Important Notes
Since the "Merchandise" classification is determined automatically based on whether a Company Name is present, please ensure that recipient information is entered accurately so that the correct category is reflected on the customs declaration.
When creating a shipping label, please verify that the Company Name field contains only the recipient's actual company name, and not unrelated information such as additional address details or personal IDs.
For e-commerce shipments addressed to individual recipients, please leave the Company Name field blank.
