What is LUCID?
The LUCID Packaging Register is Germany's national database for tracking packaging materials under the VerpackG (Packaging Act). All manufacturers and retailers shipping packaged goods to German consumers must register with LUCID.
Who Needs to Register?
Any business shipping packaged goods to Germany, including:
- E-commerce sellers
- Online retailers
- Manufacturers
This applies to retail packaging, grouped packaging, and shipment packaging.
Do I Need to Add LUCID Code to My Shipping Labels?
No. Your LUCID registration number does NOT need to be printed on shipping labels or invoices.
Germany's Central Agency Packaging Register (Zentrale Stelle) has internal systems that automatically match outbound packages with your LUCID identification number. The carriers (FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc.) do not have fields for entering LUCID codes.
