Offering your customers the option to choose a preferred delivery date and time enhances the shopping experience, especially for online purchases in Japan. Ship&co provides Shopify store owners with two powerful tools to implement this feature: Checkout UI Extensions for Shopify Plus users and App Embed for Basic, Shopify, and Advanced Plan users.
This eliminates the need for manual selection before creating a shipping label.
For Sellers on Basic, Shopify and Advances plans:
Requirements:
- Your store uses a Shopify 2.0 Theme.
- Ship&co app is installed.
- At least one Japanese Shipping Carrier account (Yamato Transport, Sagawa Express, or JapanPost YuPack) is linked to your Ship&co account.
How to Set Up:
Access Theme Customization:
Navigate to Online Store → Themes in your Shopify admin.
Choose your theme and click Customize.
Enable App Embed:
Click the App embeds icon in the sidebar.
Activate the Ship&co App Embed.
Configure Settings:
Add custom instructional text to appear above the App block.
Specify your shipping days after an order is placed, the time for shipping day change, and your policy on weekend and holiday shipping.
For Shopify Plus Users:
Requirements:
- You have a Shopify Plus account.
- Your store is on a Shopify 2.0 Theme.
- The Ship&co app is installed.
- At least one account with a Japanese Shipping Carrier is added to Ship&co.
How to Set Up:
Access Checkout Customization:
Go to Online Store → Themes in Shopify admin.
Select your theme and click Customize.
In the theme customization page, choose Checkout from the top center drop-down menu.
Add Checkout UI Extensions:
Click Add app block on the sidebar.
From the menu, select the Ship&co UI Extensions.
Configure Settings:
For Checkout UI Extension: Ensure to tick Include the app in Shop Pay.
Set your shipping schedule, shipping day change time, and policy on weekend and holiday shipping.
Viewing Preferred Delivery Time and Date in Ship&co:
- Details entered by customers through Checkout UI Extensions or App Embed are automatically synced to Ship&co, visible in order notes and on the Shopify admin order page. No need to select manually Time & Date of delivery, for both single order and bulk shipment for your Yamato Transport, Sagawa Express and JapanPost YuPack services.
Things to Remember:
For most regular services like YuPack, Sagawa, or Yamato Taqbin, delivery can be as quick as the next day to most prefectures. However, the days and time of delivery will depend on the origin and destination.
Some carriers may not accept a delivery time slot in certain areas. For instance, shipping to Okinawa or Hokkaido from most parts of Honshu will typically take more than 1 day.
Currently, it's not technically possible to show a preferred date and time slot for delivery based on the buyer's address at checkout. This limitation may lead to errors when trying to create shipments:
If a user selected a delivery time slot at checkout, but the carrier you ship with doesn't accept time slot delivery for this area.
If a buyer selected a day of delivery that can't be met due to the distance from the shipping location.
