Ship&co's Scheduled Fulfillment feature lets you print shipping labels in advance while controlling exactly when Shopify marks the order as fulfilled — and when your customer receives their shipping confirmation email.
Instead of fulfilling immediately at label creation or later manually, Ship&co will automatically fulfill the order on Shopify on the actual shipment date.
This feature applies to Japan domestic shipments only (Yamato, Sagawa, Japan Post domestic, Seino, etc.). It has no effect on international shipments.
How it works
When Scheduled Fulfillment is enabled, Ship&co saves the shipment date (出荷予定日) at label creation but does not immediately update Shopify. A background job then runs every 30 minutes from 18:00 JST, finds all pending shipments whose shipment date is today or in the past, and sends the fulfillment (with tracking number) to Shopify.
This means that even if you print a label the day before, the order will only show as "Fulfilled" on Shopify — and your customer will only receive the shipping email — on the actual shipment date.
Cutoff: If a label is created after 18:30 JST with today's date as the shipment date, Ship&co will not attempt to schedule fulfillment for today. Japan domestic carriers (Yamato, Sagawa, Japan Post, etc.) usually stop accepting pickups at approximately 18:30 JST — so even if the label exists, the parcel will not actually be collected until the next business day. In this case, a warning will be displayed and you will need to fulfill the order manually once you are ready to ship.
Interaction with "Automatically fulfill orders on Shopify upon label creation"
These two settings can be enabled independently. When both are on, the behavior depends on the carrier type:
| Auto-fulfill | Scheduled Fulfillment | Carrier | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| ☐ Off | ☐ Off | Any | Manual fulfillment only |
| ☐ Off | ✅ On | JP domestic | Fulfilled automatically on shipment date |
| ☐ Off | ✅ On | International | Manual only — Scheduled Fulfillment is inactive for international carriers |
| ✅ On | ☐ Off | Any | Fulfilled immediately at label creation |
| ✅ On | ✅ On | JP domestic | Scheduled Fulfillment takes precedence — fulfillment happens on shipment date, not immediately |
| ✅ On | ✅ On | International | Fulfilled immediately — Scheduled Fulfillment is inactive for international carriers |
In short: for Japan domestic orders, Scheduled Fulfillment always wins over Auto-fulfill when both are enabled.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still fulfill manually if needed? Yes. The Mark as Shipped "Fulfill" button remains visible in Ship&co. You can trigger manual fulfillment before the scheduled job runs.
What if I don't set a shipment date? If no shipment date is set on the order, Ship&co defaults to today as the shipment date.
