The Shopify Gift Extension allows Shopify sellers in Japan, to offer buyers the option to indicate that their order is a gift. When buyers select this option, they can provide their name, which will be displayed on the shipping label.
This feature integrates seamlessly with Yamato, Sagawa, YuPack, and YuPacket shipping carriers for Japan domestic shipments.
Key Features
Shopify Gift Option on Cart Page:
•A “This is a gift” checkbox will appear on the cart page or cart drawer of your Shopify store.
•Buyers can add their name, which will appear on the shipping label.
How the Name Appears on Labels:
Please note that the placement of the name varies a bit due to the character limitations of each carrier’s label format.
•Yamato: The name will appear in the “記事” field, alongside the order ID.
•Sagawa: The name will appear in the “ご依頼主” field, as part of the sender (warehouse) information.
•YuPack/YuPacket: The name will appear in the “ご依頼主” field, as part of the sender (warehouse) information.
For example, if a buyer adds their name as “山田太郎” for a gift, the label will display:
ギフトご依頼主: 山田太郎 様
Please Note:
When using Yamato Transport, if the total number of characters (including spaces and symbols) of the corresponding order number and the gift sender's information (e.g., #123456 ギフトご依頼主: 山田太郎 様) exceeds the maximum input limit for Yamato's "記事" field (22 full-width characters or 44 half-width characters), an error message saying "記事が長すぎます。" will occur, and the shipping label cannot be issued. Please be mindful of this if you use long order numbers. Additionally, the gift sender's name can be edited in Shopify's order page under "Additional details." Any edits made will be instantly reflected in Ship&co.
Shopify Plus Feature:
Shopify Plus sellers can display the “This is a gift” option directly on the checkout page as a block for better visibility and convenience.
How to Activate the Extension:
This feature is available to any Shopify user with the Ship&co app installed.
To activate and customize the extension, please follow the steps below;
- Navigate to Online Store → Themes.
- Click Customize.
- In the left-hand menu, select App Embeds.
- Look for “Gift order - Ship&co”
- Toggle the extension on and adjust settings (e.g., margins, padding, font size).
- Save the settings
Shopify Plus sellers can activate the Extension in an App Block at Checkout on their Theme.
Viewing the Gift Information:
•Within the Ship&co dashboard, the gift sender’s name is displayed clearly on the order details section.
•On Shopify’s admin order page, the gift details will appear in the “Additional details” section.
This ensures the recipient can see the gift sender’s name on the package.
