When sending shipments to Hong Kong, FedEx only accepts 2 street lines of up to 35 characters each. If your address concatenation pushes either line past that limit, you’ll receive a “One or more address lines are too long” error.
In many cases, the culprit is the province/region field— you can either omit it entirely or replace the full name with a 2-letter code.
1. Omit or shorten the region field
Instead of “Hong Kong”, “New Territories” or “Kowloon” in your Province line, use one of these two-letter region codes or leave it blank:
| Region (full name) | FedEx code |
|---|---|
| Hong Kong | HK |
| New Territories | NT |
| Kowloon | KL |
2. Keep each street line ≤ 35 characters
If a line is still too long, apply common English abbreviations:
| Original | Abbreviated |
|---|---|
| Street | St. |
| Avenue | Ave. |
| Road | Rd. |
| Building | Bldg. |
| Apartment | Apt. |
| Floor | Fl. |
| Department | Dept. |
Following these steps will keep both street lines within FedEx limits and prevent the “address too long” error when shipping to Hong Kong.
